How to Flash Android 4.3 XXUGNA5 on Galaxy S3 GT-I9300

Today you will welcome Android 4.3 on your Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. The latest Google OS version is introduced by XXUGNA5 released for Switzerland this month. The new firmware is going to find its way on your device with an update.

Our upgrade requires several steps. By following all of them, your smartphone will have the new OS quickly and easily. For that, the phone you currently use must be this one: Galaxy S3 I9300. Our tutorial doesn’t work on a different model.

The new features that will appear on your handset after the update are many and varied. You will enjoy all of them with zero bugs, too.But here they are: tweaks to customize the handset, a set of new apps and other tweaks to help the battery last more.

If the smartphone is rooted, you will have to keep the following in mind: root access will be revoked. You will also say goodbye to the system partition. But you won’t have to do that regarding the phone’s internal/external SD cards and important data; they will be spared.

Your Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 can enjoy the update if you use a different method than our guide. We’re talking about the KIES software: the new official firmware has an activated KIES logo. In case you’re following this method, you should only perform it on a device running a stock ROM.Galaxy-S3-GT-i9300

Requirements

If, however, you decide that our tutorial is better for you, the following will have to be followed:

  • if the phone’s battery’s charging levels are poor, charge the device;
  • the notebook must have a pre-installed Windows OS;
  • the guide needs USB drivers compatible with your handset, so find them and then download them on the laptop;
  • a set of backups is very much needed (among them should also be a full NANDroid backup);
  • the security solutions featured on the phone and the laptop must be turned off for now;
  • turn USB Debugging on.

Step by step instructions

From this point onward, the upgrade can begin.

  1. With these instructions: download Odin on the laptop from here, then download the Jelly Bean 4.3 XXUGNA5 for Switzerland on your laptop.
  2. After the two are extracted, you have to do the following in order to enter your device in Download Mode: simultaneously press and hold Home, Volume Down and Power and be sure to release them once a screen with a warning appears, which is when you should press Volume Up.
  3. The Odin can now be opened as Admin on your notebook.
  4. The following step asks you to establish a connection between the handset and the other device. This action must be performed with the USB cable of your Samsung I9300.
  5. Very soon, “Added!!” and a yellow ID:COM box will be available on-screen. When you see both of them, you can move on to the next steps. But if you don’t spot them, we recommend this: use another USB port or make sure the USB drivers are flashed on the laptop one more time.
  6. Next, some files should come up. When they do, we advise you to do as follows: tap BL, opt for a file with BL in the name, click on AP, opt for a file with AP in the name, tap CP, then opt for a file with CP in its name, tap CSC, choose a file which has CSC in the name, tap PIT and at the end choose a file with an extension called .pit.
  7. When you’ve done everything as instructed: check Auto Reboot, Re-partition and also F. Reset Time. This will prompt you to begin the new firmware’s installation on the handset, so do this: tap “Start”.
  8. The next couple of minutes will be you waiting for the end of the installation stage. It will all be over once the handset restarts automatically and then displays “Pass” in all-green.
  9. [sc name=”banner-jos”]Time to perform our guide’s final step. Which tells you the following: after you unplug your Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 from your notebook, tap Settings. After that tap About Phone and discover the XXUGNA5 there.

If all goes well and the new firmware isn’t a complete waste of time, good for you. But if you’re not convinced by the novelties and you want the old ROM restored, use the NANDroid backup file we insisted on creating earlier. It will make sure the update procedure is revoked.
