Instructions

If you followed all of our requirements, prepare for the best part of our guide: the steps required for the update to the Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP ROM custom firmware. And none of them is to difficult to follow, so keep an eye out on the instructions coming up next!

  1. One of the first things to do now is this: take your laptop, open it and make sure you download and save the (file name: pa_aosp_mako.zip) and Google Apps from here, then plug the Nexus 4 to the laptop. After the devices are connected to each other properly, you should follow these guidelines: take the two downloaded files from the laptop and paste them to the handset’s SD card root.
  2. Once you are sure that the transfer is over, you can do the following: power the handset off first, then unplug it from your notebook. To continue, you have to enter your LG E960 in Bootloader Mode as shown now: power the device on while pressing and simultaneously holding Volume Down, Volume Up and Power.
  3. For the next step, we ask you to wait until some instructions come on the display, then opt for “Bootloader”. Next up: choose “Recovery” and then Factory Reset/Wipe Data. What will happen now is this: the phone is going to experience a full data wipe.
  4. After this ends, you should opt for Wipe Cache Partition so that the device goes through a cache wipe. Then choose, from the Recovery Menu, an option called “Advanced“.
  5. Follow this up by opting for Wipe Dalvik Cache and you will soon see a wipe of the smartphone’s dalvik cache.
  6. [sc name=”banner-jos”]To move on to the other steps, we recommend taking this route: return to the device’s Recovery screen. Then opt for “Install zip from SD card“. A second option you should select is this: “Choose zip from SD card“.
  7. The Volume buttons will help you with the next step: use them to get to the update file. When you see it, choose it with “Power” and confirm the flashing.
  8. After this file is installed on your LG Nexus 4 E960, you have to flash the Google Apps, as well. This actions must happen the same way the other one which flashed the Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP ROM did.
  9. Then select +++Go Back+++. Choose, from your phone’s Recovery Menu, a dedicated option that will reboot the device. Your handset should be updated now!
