Install Jelly Bean 4.2.2 XXUBMGA Official Firmware on Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082

Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 is one of the best smartphones you can own. The only thing you can do to get an even more effective smartphone from now on is to update the device to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean XXUBMGA.

Requirements

If you would like nothing else than to experience the said update, then by all means give our guide a chance. The very first thing to look forward to are these requirements:

  • make sure your laptop (or PC) comes with Windows already installed (use CrossOver Utility for a device that runs another operating system);
  • create backups via this guide;
  • turn on USB Debugging;
  • flash USB drivers for the phone on your notebook;
  • charge the battery that’s inside your Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082.

After explaining all of the above, you will finally get to see how the update can be brought on your smartphone.Galaxy-Grand-Duos-I9082

How to flash XXUBMGA

  1. You should kick things off by downloading Odin tool v3.07 (available here) and Jelly Bean 4.2.2 XXUBMGA Official Firmware (file name: I9082XXUBMGA_I9082OXEBMGA_SER.zip) on your notebook.
  2. Continue by following these guidelines: unzip the two zip files, then switch the handset off to boot it into Download Mode. The following should apply when entering the smartphone in that mode:
    – simultaneously press and hold down Home, Volume Down and Power;
    – a message of warning should be expected next;
    – press Volume Up.
  3. To run Odin tool v3.07.exe (which is a file that’s part of the Odin tool 3.07 zip file) as Admin for the next part of the guide, you should:
    – find odin.exe file;
    – right-click on it;
    – head over to your handset’s context menu;
    – tap the option “Run as administrator“.
  4. After you plug the handset to the notebook, you need to first wait and see if the devices are really connected to one another. That will happen once a COM port number goes yellow and “Added” is on the screen.
  5. Flash those USB Drivers again or use another USB port if your I9082 and the PC are not plugged to each other like they should be. Follow these instructions to flash the files you will see there:
    – tap PDA;
    – choose a .tar.md5 file;
    – tap Phone;
    – choose a file that has MODEM in it;
    – tap CSC;
    – opt for a CSC file;
    – tap PIT;
    – locate and choose a .pit file.
  6. There are certain boxes that must be ticked now: F. Reset Time, Auto Reboot and Re-partition (the .pit file should be opted for above so that you can check the latter box).
  7. As soon as the 3 options have been carefully selected, you should begin the installation of the update firmware by tapping START. The end of the flashing process should make your handset restart; and it should also make it display PASS in a green background.
  8. What these elements mean is the following: unplug the smartphone from your notebook. Then pay a visit to the “About phone” area of your Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 where you will notice the Android 4.2.2 JB XXUBMGA firmware.

NOTE: The Odin box may show you this message: “MD5 hash value is invalid”. When you spot that during the tutorial, you have to do as follows:

  • download the firmware update again;
  • repeat the guide.

But what to do if the handset comes up with another issue? Like getting stuck in boot animation? In that case, you need to first go to the Recovery Mode. Then do as instructed below:

  • choose “Factory reset/Wipe data“;
  • opt for “Wipe cache partition“.

Restart your Samsung I9082 after performing those actions.
