Update HTC Rezound to Android 4.0.4 ICS using CyanogenMod 9

If you’re big on using various custom ROMs to upgrade a gadget to the latest operating system created by Google, here’s another one we will talk about. This one is aimed at the HTC Rezound.

The name of the custom ROM which can update HTC’s Rezound to the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich is CyanogenMod 9. While it is very easy to install and use, you have to remember that it is not something issued by someone official. That’s why you can experience some problems along with bugs.

Requirements

Look out for the following requirements before you start installing the CyanogenMod 9. Your HTC Rezound needs to have one of the following: S-ON or S-OFF with an unlocked bootloader, the handset needs to be fully charged, you have to download AmonRa Recovery (a file called AmonRa-PH98IMG.zip), GApps for CyanogenMod 9 (a file called gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip), Official CyanogenMod 9 ROM, then make a complete backup.HTC-Rezound

Here’s how to install the AmonRa Recovery if it is not on the smartphone. First give a different name to the AmonRa-PH98IMG.zip: call it PH98IMG.zip. Then download all these files into the root of the internal memory card of your phoneand switch the handset off. Next simultaneously select at the same time the buttons for Volume up / Down and Power. When the phone starts and the Bootloader Mode begins to work, the bootloader is going to find the right file.

Once it locates it, it will start the installation process. This is followed by the rebooting of the phone. When this is over, you have to erase the file located on the memory card. Now you will need to go on with the steps needed for the flashing of the custom ROM.
