Update Galaxy Ace S5830I to Gingerbread 2.3.6 XXMH1 Official Firmware
Galaxy Ace S5830I has been announced as the next model which will have its own Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system.
The firmware which is given the opportunity to update your phone is XXMH1. With this tool, your smartphone is no longer missing out on exciting opportunities.
Requirements
The update tool will be yours to check out if you take a peek at the next few requirements:
- make a backup (or more than just one);
- charge the battery of your device;
- turn on USB Debugging;
- flash USB drivers on your notebook (the ones that work only with your phone).
Once the phone receives the update, it will lose root access (should you have rooted it before). Which means that the custom recovery that is on it will be removed and in its place you will see stock recovery. The root access will become available after you root your phone again.
How to flash XXMH1 on your Galaxy Ace
- Until then, you need to upgrade your handset. Start with the download of these files on your laptop or PC: and Odin tool v3.07 (the file is available here). The two zip files must then go through an unzipping phase which will leave you with Odin tool v3.07.exe and with .tar files.
- Your role next is to switch the handset off and boot it in Download Mode; for this to take effect, you have to press and hold, together, these keys: Volume Down + Volume Up + Power, then have patience for the Android logo to come on the screen and tell you that the GT-S5830i is in the Download Mode.
- After the device has entered that mode, you will need to run, on your comp, the Odin3 v3.07.exe as System Admin by right-clicking on the .exe file and then going to Context Menu and tapping the option Run as Administrator.
- Plug your Samsung S5830i to the notebook, after which step wait to receive a confirmation telling you if the plugging truly happened; you will know this after you spot a COM port number colored yellow or an “Added!!” message. It’s appropriate, if see the plugging go haywire, to install the USB drivers again or use a different USB port until the devices are connected to one another.
- Then click on “PDA“, choose the file which has CODE in the name, tap “Phone“, opt for a file which has MODEM in the name, click on “CSC“, select a file with CSC in the name, tap “PIT” and opt for a file which contains a .pit extension.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]Take time to perform the following steps: check the boxes marked F. Reset Time, Auto Reboot and Re-partition (if you went for that .pit file). Tap “Start” when you complete the previous step, then wait until the upgrade tool is on the phone. The latter should restart on its own after the installation is done.
- When “Pass” appears, the connection between your handset and your notebook should be eliminated, so take the USB cord out.
After you do that, the Galaxy Ace S5830I will have the Gingerbread 2.3.6 XXMH1 firmware in its “About Phone“.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you chance upon a message that reads “MD5 hash value is invalid”, you should download the upgrade tool again and redo the guide. Should the smartphone remain stuck in a booting animation: enter it in the Recovery Mode, opt for “Factory Reset/Wipe Data“, select “Wipe Cache Partition” and restart your phone.
