Lenovo A660 releases new waterproof dual SIM Android 4.0 ICS phone

More and more companies are releasing phones that can resist all kinds of adverse elements. Like water, dust, extreme temperatures and so on. Lenovo recently joined this trend by launching their A660 waterproof smartphone.

According to official sources, the Lenovo A660 aims at its waterproof quality via a sign placed strategically on its front-bottom bar. Tests done on it suggest that it can be kept for half an hour at 1 m under water. But apart from being able to come unscathed from an encounter with this natural element, the smartphone in question also offers protection against dust. Which is all sorts of neat if you happen to want a rugged device to take on your travels.

The design of this product offered by Lenovo’s team looks attractive. But definitely not quite as attractive as other smartphones released earlier this year. Still, the fact that it ships with a durable body certainly compensates for that. The colors that are available for this model are said to be many.

And now let’s see what specs the Lenovo A660 has in store for us. There’s a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen (complete with Corning Gorilla Glass that offer the display extra protection against damage), the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 800 x 480 pixels, a 1GHz dual-core CPU, a 1500mAh battery, a 5MP camera on the back and a VGA camera on the front. The device sports dual SIM. Its body is 10.5mm thin.Lenovo-A660

Apart from this phone, Lenovo let the world know that they will release an ultrabook. But not just any ultrabook: this one will be, according to them, the lightest one ever made for the business sector. The name of this device is ThinkPad X1 Carbon. Its weight is less than 3 pounds and the material the company used was carbon fibre. The screen is a 14″ one featuring a high resolution.

The CPU is the new 3 generation Intel Core. Among the features that we will see on the ThinkPad X1 Carbon are the following: a HD face-tracking camera, RapidResume and RapidConnect, a multi-gesture glass surface touchpad, Intel Turbo Boost 2.0, dual array microphones and Dolby-tuned audio.

The Lenovo A660 dual SIM version is not the only smartphone that can resist damage done by water and dust. The Xperia Go model is such a device, too. This one can also last underwater for a period of half an hour. Its specs include a 3.5″ touchscreen which is both TFT and capacitive. Its resolution is 480 x 320 pixels. The processor it runs on is a 1GHz NovaThor U8500 Dual-core Cortex A9. The user can take pics with its 5-megapixel cam.

As for the official release date of the new Lenovo A660 powered by Android 4.0 ICS and the other two devices, nothing is known for now.
