How to flash ZMAMG1 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Official Firmware on Galaxy Trend S7898

Galaxy Trend S7898 (China version) is only missing Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean to complete its list of nice goodies. This operating system is coming your way courtesy of official firmware known as ZMAMG1 official firmware.

It should be said that it’s completely fine if your phone is not rooted yet. If it is, the update will not appear on your device. The handset is going to have its factory restrictions flashed back on, its warranty will return and the bootloader is going to be locked once more.

Requirements

If this is all fine by you, make sure you follow these requirements up next:

  • your laptop (or PC) should run Windows;
  • you must turn on USB Debugging on the Trend GT-S7898 (which will happen if you open Settings, tap Applications, opt for Development and then tap the USB Debugging option);
  • create a backup so that the data on your device is saved;
  • look at the phone’s battery and, in case you notice it’s empty, charge it;
  • if the security programs of your phone are running, you need to deactivate them asap;
  • then proceed in the same way for the antivirus software on your notebook;
  • find USB drivers for the smartphone, then flash them on the laptop.

Instructions

  1. The very first task we prepare for you looks like this: download, on your laptop, Odin tool v3.07 and (file name: S7898ZMAMG1_S7898CHMAMG1_CHM.zip for China).
  2. Then do this: extract both of these packages and wait till their content is saved on your laptop before you run Odin on the latter.
  3. Switch, after the waiting period is over, the handset off and then restart your Trend S7898 into Download Mode by using this method: press Power, Volume Down and Home simultaneously.
  4. Now plug the phone to your computer with the help of the former’s USB cord, then wait for “Added!!” to make an entrance on the screen; this way, you will know if the connection between the devices is complete. Another sign of a successful connection: an ID:COM box colored yellow. If neither of these two appears, re-install the USB drivers again or use a second USB port which should be different than the previously used one.
  5. Then tap PDA in Odin and be sure to go to the upgrade firmware and tap START to watch the flashing of this file. Now uncheck these boxes if they are selected: F. Reset Time and Re-partition.
  6. [sc name=”banner-jos”]After the installation stage has finished, you should spot PASS and a green ID:COM on the display, so disconnect the phone from the laptop; now restart the device and then find the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean ZMAMG1 tool in its “About phone“.

NOTE: The Galaxy Trend S7898 Chinese variant needs the following solution in case it remains stuck in boot loops. Take your device, restart it in the Recovery Mode, choose Factory Reset/Wipe Data, then select Wipe Cache Partition and go back to the main Recovery Menu.

Now restart the phone by tapping Restart option. But if you see that the Odin is stuck in boot loops instead, then close it, force reboot the phone and then flash the USB drivers once more. Now redo the tutorial.
