Galaxy S GT-I9000 is joining, from this second onward, the ranks of smartphones which can show to the world an updated operating system.

CyanAOSP Build 2.5.3 comes from a team of developers who created this instrument so that it can update your phone to Android 4.2.2. If you happen to be an avid gamer and wish for improved stability and speed alike, then this tutorial is for you!

Requirements

Your Galaxy S I9000 will have this upgrade after you provide the device with these requirements: turn on USB debugging, get USB drivers on your notebook, charge the smartphone’s battery, create backups via our tutorial (the content on the internal memory has to be backed up, too, so use an external hard drive for this purpose) and use the model whose bootloader is unlocked; also, be sure it’s not locked to a certain carrier.

Installation instructions

  1. Download the and on your comp. The file names which correspond to the files: CyanAOSP-v2.5.3-LVM.zip (the custom ROM) and CyanAOSP-Gapps.zip (the Google Apps package). Once you get this out of the way, you should plug the phone to the laptop and copy the archives to the memory card of the S GT-I9000.samsung-Galaxy-S-I9000
  2. Step two will have to include the performing of this only task: unplug the devices.
  3. Power the handset off and have it sent into Recovery Mode by pressing and holding, together, Volume Up, Volume Down and Power. The display of the phone should commence to flash, so don’t press and hold those keys anymore.
  4. Step four: choose, for the couple of wiping tasks that are ahead, some options. The first of them: Factory Reset/Wipe Data (tap on “Yes” to confirm it, then return to the Recovery Menu); the second one: Wipe cache partition. The third option to select: Wipe Dalvik cache.
  5. As soon as you’ve performed them, step five will need you to opt for Install zip from SD card and for Choose zip from SD card.
  6. Step six needs this: choose, with Power, the CyanAOSP Build 2.5.3 archive.
  7. Confirm this action, then don’t rush to the next action, instead have patience till the file is flashed on the Galaxy S I9000; shouldn’t take long. Go back to the fifth, sixth and this step to flash the Google Apps, as well.
  8. Step eight is present with the following instruction: return, after the installation of the zip files, to the smartphone’s Recovery Menu.
  9. [sc name=”banner-jos”]For step number nine you have to choose the system restarting, an option which will reboot the handset; the latter is going to boot afterwards into the CyanAOSP Build 2.5.3. Which basically means that you will be allowed to have a look at an updated Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean once you access your phone after performing this guide.

However, if at any point in our tutorial you see “Status 7 error“, it is advised to install a compatible kernel on the S GT-I9000 and after that flash the CyanAOSP Build 2.5.3. But if you want to get to experience the old ROM again, you need to do as follows: boot the phone into Recovery Mode, opt for Backup&Restore and choose the tool from a list to have it back on the device.

A boot loop is to be solved by performing two particular tasks: Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik Cache. When done with them both, reboot your Galaxy S I9000.
