Update Galaxy Note 10.1 WiFi GT-N8010 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXUCMA5

Here’s some food for thought. It has to do with all of you owners of Galaxy Note 10.1 WiFi GT-N8010: there’s a new Android upgrade for your gadget.

And you can get it via a rooting procedure by following this tutorial and all that it implies. This new update is labelled Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Requirements

But first, let’s get one thing straight: this guide will only work if you comply with a set of requirements. For this particular tablet they are as follows: create backups using our guide so that you won’t lose important data, own a Windows-based laptop, get USB tablet drivers on it, charge the battery of the handset and use your Gmail account to synchronize your important info.

We are now going to let you know which steps are the most indicated for the rooting of the Galaxy Note 10.1 WiFi GT-N8010 with XXUCMA5 firmware.Galaxy-Note-10.1-N8010

Important instructions

  1. The very first to welcome you to our tutorial is the following: download Odin archive and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean (the version based on the N8010XXUCMA5 firmware) and to your laptop.
  2. For the next action you will have to extract the both files into a dedicated directory and then launch the latter.
  3. For step three to be functional, you need to start Odin tool and make sure shut down the Note 10.1 WiFi GT-N8010 so that you can reboot the device into Download Mode afterwards; so that the rebooting goes as planned, you should perform it as instructed here: press the keys labelled Power and Volume Down at the same time and, after you spot a screen containing a warning, let go of them and only press Volume Up.
  4. For the fourth step, both computer and tablet have to be connected one to the other through the latter’s USB cable. Wait for ID:COM to turn a different color and, after “ADDED” comes on the display, you will need to tap on PDA.
  5. Find N8010XXUCMA5_N8010OXACMA5_DBT_HOME.tar.md5 file, see if Re-partition is unchecked and then tap on Start. The installation will now start and the handset is going to reboot after it ends.
  6. Wait for “PASS” to appear. Once you see that, your Galaxy Note 10.1 Wi-Fi GT-N8010 is now rooted and you can start using its new capabilities.

If you have problems

A problem may arise, though, during or after the process. Should, for instance, Odin show “FAIL”, then you need to do the following:

  1. Close it for step 1.
  2. Unplug your tablet, remove its battery and put it back in.
  3. Reboot your gadget into Download Mode and re-install the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXUCMA5 firmware. Hope that helps. If not, we’re open for any question you may have!
