Root Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 XXUAMDL Firmware

Galaxy S4 GT-I9500, the Exynos 5 version, is finally going to join the smartphones to receive, at last, a guide on how to root it. If your handset already features Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean XXUAMDL firmware, you need to take a look at some pre-requisites and then follow some steps we have in our third paragraph.

Requirements

Your S4 I9500 is on its way to be rooted after you first read these pre-requisites:

  • charge the battery of this phone;
  • make backups using our tutorials;
  • flash USB drivers that are fit for this model on your laptop;
  • use the smartphone that is not locked to a carrier;
  • also, make sure your S4 GT-I9500 is not factory locked;
  • turn on USB debugging by tapping on Menu, going to Settings, opting for Applications and then selecting Development; when done, check whether or not USB debugging mode is enabled.

That was all for our requirements. The warranty of your handset is going to be taken out of it after you perform this tutorial. Unroot the device if you want it back.samsung-galaxy-s4-GT-I9500

The tutorial that brings the much needed root procedure on your Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 begins with step number one described below.

Important instructions

  1. According to it, you should download the root file on your notebook and then extract it with a tool used for such cases.
  2. Odin should be downloaded, too, and you should this file once you extracted it to your comp: Odin tool v3.07. Now switch the smartphone off.
  3. The third step will ask you to have the handset booted into Download Mode by simultaneously press and hold Home, Volume Down and Power; wait for the phone to come to life and then press Power; be sure to press Volume Up and you’ll be in the Download Mode.
  4. Step four will need this from you: open, on your laptop, Odin. Next: plug the phone to the PC. The connection between the two will have been established when you see “Added!!” and an ID:COM icon turn the color yellow (plus a COM port number pop on the display). If there are issues: flash the USB Drivers again or use another USB port.
  5. Step five will need you to click, in Odin, on PDA.
  6. Opt for the root file (an archive labelled cofface_samsungI9500_recovery_en_0503.tar) and then configure Odin’s settings.
  7. The seventh step will ask you to do the following: go to the Odin window and opt for F. Reset Time and then for Auto Reboot if they happen to be unchecked; Repartition should be left inactivated, then you have to click Start.
  8. Have patience until you see that the flashing of the rooting update firmware is over. The Galaxy S4 I9500 is going to restart once that happens. Then wait for the home screen to pop on the display.
  9. It’s now safe to disconnect your handset from your laptop.
  10. Next step, the tenth, tells you to power your phone off, boot it into Recovery Mode by pressing + holding Home, Volume Up and Power, after which you need to opt for “Root your phone”. As soon as you are done: go back to the Recovery Menu and afterwards choose the system restarting option. Your Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 is rooted.
